Shell Rummel's favorite time of day is Daybreak, when the inky night begins to fade away and early morning light appears. The world transforms into mysterious hues of lavenders and dusky blues, and then slowly into soft seashell pinks and warm corals. She loves that there is so much hopeful energy ahead of the rising sun! Those beautiful monochromatic early morning hours are unique ... your eyes focus mostly on lines and layers, shadows and glimmers of light, all the while seeking patterns of familiarity. The saturated palette of Daybreak is a fresh departure from the more muted coastal colors that often grace her designs ... yet, as always, there remains a consistent, watercolor inspired fluidity to her designs and a desire to honor a moment in time, however brief. In Daybreak, Shell Rummel has captured the essence of hope and renewal which begins each day with the return of the light.
